Fred made it into the semifinals. His opponent was the number one seed Raemon Sluiter. The result 4-6, 2-6 makes you think Raemon won pretty easy, but Fred defended himself well. He made some beautiful points, but sometimes it just didn't work the way he wanted. In the second set he had an injury on his leg, because he slipped when he returned a ball. Fred played a good match, but Raemon was stronger.

This is Fred's last tournament for this year.
In the first round of the singles draw Fred defeated Emin Agaev(AZE) 7-5, 6-1.
Fred got into the quarter finals by defeating Kevin Kim (USA) with 6-4, 6-1.
He reached the semifinals by defeating the second seeded Eric Taino(USA) in three sets, 3-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4).
Unfortunately Fred didn't make it into the final. Paul Goldstein defeated him with 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

In the first round of the singles draw Fred lost to Glenn Weiner from the USA, 3-6, 5-7.
 
Fred is also playing doubles this week alongside Dusan Vemic (SER)... In the first round they defeated the Greek qualifiers Theodores Angelinos and Alexander Jakupovic with 6-4 6-0.
In the quarterfinals they were defeated in two tiebreaks, 7-6(4), 7-6(4), by Yen-Hsun Lu and Jason Marshall

His current rankings are 242 in the ATP entry ranking and 295 in the ATP champions race.

In the first round of the singles tournament Fred(the number one seed) defeated  Ludwig Pellerin(FRA), 6-4, 6-4.
Fred advanced to the quarterfinals, he defeated Steve Darcis(BEL) with 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.
Gilles Simon(FRA) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Fred in two sets: 7-6 (5), 6-3.
 
 
In the doubles tournament Fred and his partner Melvyn Op der Heijde have received a 'Bye' to the second round.
They reached the semifinals by defeating Phillippe and Trevor Allan(FRA) with 6-1, 6-0.
Bertrand Contzler and Julien Jeanpierre(FRA) are defeated by our dutch team with  7-5, 6-2.
Fred wasn't so lucky in the doubles either. Gilles Kremer and Mike Scheidweiler(LUX) are the winners of the final with 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.

10/13/03-10/19/03:

In the first round of the singles tournament Fred defeated Zbynek Mlynarik from Austria 6-3, 6-1.
Fred seems to be on the roll this week, in the second round he defeated Tomas Behrend from Germany (the number 1 seed!) 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
Freds next victim was Louis Vosloo from South Africa, Fred beat him in straight sets 6-4 6-2.
 Then the semifinals came, and Fred defeated another seeded player, Olivier Patience from France, the number 5 seed, again in straight sets: 6-2, 7-5
Unfortunately Freds run ended today in the all-Dutch final. He lost his first challenger final ever to compatriot and doubles partner Peter Wessels: 2-6, 0-6. He did a good job anyway, so congratulations to Fred on reaching his first challenger final!
 
Fred also played some doubles matches. He teamed up with Peter Wessels again. The exact draw was nowhere to be found, but in the Dutch  media were some articles about Fred and Peter making a run to the final, before losing to the team of Wassen(NED) and Browne (ARG), 1-6, 7-6(4), 3-6.

10/06/03 - 10/12/03:
 
Fred isn't playing any tournaments this week, at least no challengers or future tournaments...
His current ranking in the ATP Champions Race is no. 259 and he is the number 283 in the 52 weeks Entry Ranking.
 

09/29/03 - 10/05/03:

In the first round Fred lost to the Italian Paolo Lorenzi in two sets 3-6, 4-6.
 
 In the doubles tournament Fred and his partner Raemon Sluiter(NED) are the first seeded team, in the first round they defeated the Italian team of Bracciali and Lorenzi 6-3, 6-2.
In the quarter finals they defeated the duo of Van Gemerden (NED)/Wauters(BEL) 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
Saturday Fred and Raemon got a walkover to the final on Sunday. One of their opponents for that semifinal match had a right shoulder injury.
In the final the Dutch guys lost to the Israelian third seeded team of Amir Hadad and Harel Levy 4-6 4-6...

In the first round Fred's opponent Simon Larose from Canada (no. 5 seed) retired injured  in the second set. Larose won the first set tiebreak 7-1, but Fred was 4-1 up in the second set when Larose retired (because of a right quad strain).
In the second round he lost to Tomas Cakl (CZE) 3-6, 4-6.
 
Fred also advanced to the secound round of the doubles tournament. In the first round he and Peter Wessels (NED) had to play the American team of Davis and Sanders and the Dutch guys were up 5-0 when the Americans retired.
Fred and Peter defeated the American team of Phillips and Sachire with 6-1, 6-3 in the second round.
Unfortunately Cakl and Vosloo defeated the dutch team with 6-3, 6-4 in the semi final.

In the first round Fred defeated Ignacio Hirigoyen from Argentina in a third set tiebreaker 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5).
Fred lost his second rouns match to Matias Boeker (USA) 4-6, 4-6.
 
It clearly wasn't a good day for Fred in the States. He lost his first round match of the doubles tournament with compatriot Peter Wessels against the duo of Haviland (USA)/Hippensteel (USA) 3-6, 7-6(2), 3-6.

In the first round Fred (the no.2 seed) defeated Robert Yim from the USA 6-0, 6-3.
 
In the second round he beat Sanjin Sadovich from Canada 5-4, 3-6, 6-1.
 
In the quarter final Fred lost to Jimy Szymanski 6-7(5), 6-3, 1-6.

Fred lost in the first round of the qualifying tournament to Bjorn Phau of Germany 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.

Fred hasn't played any tournaments these weeks.
His rankings are no. 226 in the ATP Champions Race and no.270 Entry Ranking.

In the first round (singles) Fred defeated Salvador Navarro from Spain 5-7, 7-6, 6-1.
In the second round Fred lost to no.1 seed Martin Verkerk 6-4, 6-4.
 
Fred won his first round doubles match with Mark Nielsen (NZ) against Luzzi(IT)/Trifu(RO) 6-3 6-4.
Fred and Mark got a walkover in the quarterfinals when Costa/Veronelli withdrew.
They defeated Ross/Sirianni(AUS) in the semi finals 6-3 6-3.
In the final Fred and Mark lost to the team of Fyrstenberg and Matowski from Poland, 6-2, 7-5.
